Description

Dean Orton – ‘A Life in Lambretta’

A young English Mod moves to Italy to restore Italian Lambrettas for Italians. It’s a bizarre premise, but it’s also the truth. When Dean arrived in Rimini, few Italians appreciated Lambrettas as much as the British scooterists, inspired by two generations of Mod culture.

‘A Life in Lambretta’ is a series of anecdotes and stories, related in a non-chronological order, allowing the reader to experience the massive cultural change, the never ending search for scooters and parts, having to adapt to local nuisances, being both sides of the sales counter, jollying it up with the local scooter lads and having to endure seemingly insurmountable difficulties – usually presented in the form of the three-headed monster better known as Italian bureaucracy.

The 600-page hardcover book is embellished with dozens of full-colour photos, adding visual impact to the written content where the author, Dean Orton, covers the time from when he decided to emigrate to Italy, until setting up his first scooter restoration garage, the forerunner to Rimini Lambretta Centre.

All books ordered from Europe will be dispatched from Italy, so there will be no extra customs/VAT charges.

Hard Back – 600 pages – 156 x 254mm
